The OACC has developed a new child-initiated program, based on the Emilio Reggo approach, where staff offer a holistic approach to children’s development by supporting child’s interests. This is achieved by offering an extension on what a child takes an interest in on that day. Photographs are taken to show evidence of the interest and a story is written and discussed with the whole group. This is an ongoing process and one where as much information is crammed into the time available as possible. We try to keep things simple as time is always a factor when busy parents want information about their child’s day but can’t stay long enough to read a whole essay on the day’s events. These stories are kept in each individual child’s folder and can be accessed at any time by parents.
